What is Podiatry & Chiropody?
Podiatry (also known as Chiropody) is a hands-on profession focused on the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the feet, ankles and lower limbs. Your podiatrist looks at how your skin, nails, joints and movement patterns work together, because how your feet function can influence the rest of your body.
Your treatment can include gentle nail and skin care, ingrown toenail removal, fungal nail treatment, callus/corn reduction, verruca management, joint and soft‑tissue techniques, orthotic and footwear advice, and tailored exercise advice to relieve pain and improve day‑to‑day comfort.

How your appointment will look
On your first appointment you will be greeted by your Podiatrist and welcomed into the consultation room. After a review of your symptoms, medical conditions and medication, your Podiatrist will examine your feet and provide a clear explanation of your diagnosis and options for treatment. With your consent they will then carry out the appropriate treatments depending on the issues that you are presenting. This may include corn/callus reduction, ingrown nail treatments, nail care, verruca management, and practical advice on footwear, activity and exercises.
The appointment will conclude with recommendations on follow‑up actions, this may be routine care, a short course of treatment, a future check-up or no further actions.
