What is Pregnancy Massage?

Pregnancy Massage is a gentle, nurturing massage treatment that is specifically designed to support women during pregnancy. Using controlled techniques and comfortable positioning, it helps ease muscular tension, improve circulation, and promote relaxation. Treatments are adapted to each stage of pregnancy and focus on relieving common discomforts while providing a calm, supportive experience for both mother and baby. Pregnancy massage can also help to relax and prepare expectant mums for labour.

Typically, pregnancy pillows and/or a massage table will be optimised to enhance comfort and support the body during treatment. Pregnancy massage is generally considered safe from the second trimester (after 12 weeks) onwards. We do not offer pregnancy massage in the first trimester, as this is when the natural risk of miscarriage is at its highest.

How your appointment will look

Your massage therapist will greet you and take you into the consultation room. They will take time to understand your stage of pregnancy, any symptoms you are experiencing, and your overall wellbeing.

Your massage therapist will then leave the room to give you time to prepare for your massage. You will remove the appropriate items of clothing and lie down comfortably. Your therapist will explain the positioning options and make sure you are fully supported with pregnancy pillows and cushions for comfort.

The massage will be tailored to your needs, using safe and effective techniques to reduce discomfort and promote relaxation. At the end of your session, your therapist may provide aftercare advice and recommendations for follow up treatments to support you through the rest of your pregnancy.
