Podiatry/Chiropody Conditions
What is Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain. It occurs when the plantar fascia, the thick band of tissue running along the sole of your foot, can become inflamed or irritated.
What are the causes:
- Overuse from running, walking, or prolonged standing
- Wearing unsupportive footwear
- Flat feet, high arches, or abnormal gait patterns
- Sudden increases in activity levels
- Tight calf muscles or achilles tendons

What treatments can help
Osteopathy
Your Osteopath will work with you to identify what may be causing this pain. They will assess your posture and movement patterns and provide the necessary treatments. Treatment may include stretching exercises, manual therapy and taping.
Podiatry
Your podiatrist may recommend orthotic insoles to purchase and provide advice on footwear and activity modification to help manage and reduce the severity of the plantar fasciitis.
How you will feel after treatment
You are likely to feel relief as pain reduces, and movement becomes more natural. With a course of treatment, you’ll increase mobility, comfort, and confidence in standing, walking, or returning to sport.
